If anyone recently purchased a StorkCraft crib or is planning on using a borrowed or second-hand one, please read the recall that was just posted on The Today Show website: "Stork Craft Recalls 535,000 Baby Cribs." The cribs were sold on Amazon.com and at Wal-mart, KMart, JC Penny, Costco, BabiesRUs which means there are many moms using these cribs. The recall is "because the metal mattress-support brackets can crack and break. This could cause the mattress to collapse and create a gap where a child could get trapped or suffocate."
The cribs were sold between May 2000 and January 2009 so please check your crib especially if its borrowed or handed down from family -- a recall spanning 8+ years is going to affect a lot of people and a crib that has been around for a while may be even more prone to collapse.
